Mount And Blade Mounter Free [The Dresden Files (TV)] Truth Be Told (3 / 8)

TMLXC
As soon as Justin heard the noise he had a suspect in mind. He raised his hand as a way to tell the woman on the other side of the room to remain on her sit while he went outside to confirm his theory. Mere seconds later, he was sighing inwardly and shaking his head as a yellow, furry tail made its way through the corridor towards, hopefully, his master's bedroom.
Justin told himself he'd have to talk to Harry in the morning. There'd be no need to be too severe, though; this interruption could very well play in his advantage, helping him to look as a responsible father to his guest's eyes. Besides, Harry was working on a way to make the bell sound again, so this sort of incidents wouldn't repeat in the future. Cats. They knew how to be a pain. A silent pain. Yet, they were better than dogs, main cause behind sullied carpets and bad smell in many houses he knew.
Nevertheless, despite of the problems this Mister caused, Justin had no intention of taking the animal away from his nephew; Harry's calm smile when he stroke the animal's fur was exactly Margaret's, and it took him back in time, it reminded him of the times he and his sister had played in the corridors and the garden of that same house. This was good in more ways than one, because there were times when there was too much of the father in the boy, and in those times Justin couldn't bear to look Harry's face without being invaded by rage. He couldn't help it, but he didn't fight it either. After all, it was logical; how else w
And he had left too much of him on the boy. That was one of the reasons Justin traveled so much.
The other one was represented by his visitor in the next room.
Ellen Russell, a warden's widow and a former warden herself, was sought by the High Council for the murder of her husband. She claimed to be innocent, to have been framed and, thing was, Justin believed in her innocence. More than that, he knew beyond any doubt she was telling the truth, for it had been him who had killed the man. Yet, he didn't have any idea of what evidence the Council had found that made her a suspect. Most probably the usual things, he thought: fights between husband and wife, accumulated rancor, the opportunity to find –or to construct– tI right place and time ... The pleased Justin woman's predicament in Several aspects. First, It Was Proof That His Work Had Been flawless-as usual-and, second, I Could use the Circumstances to lure Ellen to historical side, convinces her to the Council That WAS obsolete and That It Had To Be Replaced with Something more fitting with the modern world. "Thank you," She Said, blinking to hold back the tears. "You do not know how much this Means to me. But-but There Is No Evidence, no clues That Will not lead to me, and the Council Would not take your word only, Even With That kind of oath attached to it ... " I Nodder. "I Know They Will not." I held her hands. "But we'll find something, you'll see. I'm sure knows tracking spells BainbridgeCurrently lost in the mist of time, I'll Have him help me to find the real culprit. Getting Into the house Was a piece of cake for Justin. I toyed with the idea of killing the warden, pero at the end I decided Against it, it'd raise a ruckus Unnecessary too, so it'd Be best just to make him fall asleep. Once

inside the house, Justin found out Ellen's boy Was An excellent defensive caster of spells for historical age, Which WAS around Harry's. Thus, as Harry, young Donald definitively Had a lot of potential. Also I Turned Out To Be Quite polite, cooperative, and Diligent eleven Justin Told him I have the secret word and His mother HAD AGREED as a way to Distinguish friend from foe. Five Minutes Later, I HAD MOST important historical belongings all packed up.

Where To Find Pickachu In Silver]

Title: Truth Be Told
Fandom: Dresden Files (TV)
Characters/Pairings: Bob, Harry, Justin
Rating: PG-13
Length: This chapter: +2900
Summary: AU. Bob decided to protect young Harry from Justin as much as he could, and now Harry himself must work some things out.
Spoilers: For the episode 1x10 \e greenhouse (even Bob had agreed on that one; “You're not ready for most of what lurks in there,” he'd said. Harry wondered if he'd ever be old enough for all the stuff that 'lurked' in the manor).
All those instructions left him with very few ways of action, most of them variations of standing up under the Sun the whole evening.
Standing up under the Sun, like a lizard. Which rhymed with wizard.
That'd make him Harry Dresden, the wizard lizard.
Which in turn sounded like a character in a children's book.
And why not? He was a kid who was being taught magic by a ghost while living in a manor with a rich uncle who –luckily, truth be told– preferred to be locked up in his room working or away, te'd never been in his time in the manor. He knew there was a cook, an elderly woman he'd seen only once or twice; she did her work and left, perhaps not wanting to make her employer angry by showing a personal interest for the people she served. Uncle Justin was always going about how people should remain in 'their places', whatever that was. Her food was quite good, though.
As they entered, Harry noticed three things. One, the cook wasn't in there. Two, the cake he sort of, kind of, half expected to see was nowhere in sight. Three, in the kitchen floated the warm smell of things –sugar, cinnamon, fruit beginning to be a little too old– that reminded him of home. Not this place where he lived now. Home. And of his dad and what the two of them could be doing right now I'm so proud of you today, Harry. "

Harry 'I make my uncle proud Since When, again?" Not tried to widen Dresden His eyes in confusion. That's What I got for Not paying attention: I missed all the praise. His uncle Smiled

Broadly and Continue. "Do you think I have not Noticed your going efforts. They've earned you a reward. "Leave it to

Authority figures to destroy the illusion That the birthday boy deserves a present Simply Because It Was His birthday.

Still, this WAS an unexpected turn of events. Uncle Justin

Something Picked from the floor next to the fridge.

Harry's heart skipped a beat. His uncle

What WAS holding up Was a small cage, the kind you Carried animals idge, "Was the only thing Justin Said uncle Harry really listened. "The sandbox is next to the back door. Make sure I Learns how to use it, there'll Be no Concessions on That One. "

Milk and a sandbox? It Was a cat, Then? Dogs Did not use a sandbox; Usually They Went for trees and carpets, Did not They?

"Yes, uncle," Harry Answered, His eyes still glued to the carrier. "What's his name?" I Asked Right Before His uncle left the kitchen.

"Does not have any. Give him the one you want. "As soon as

Justin uncle closed the door, the small head of a big-eyed, yellow kitten Eichmann finally up.

Harry Smiled and reach out His hand. "Hello, there, uh ..." Harry paused for a second Before Saying thlf and purred himself to sleep.

“I sort of expected it'd be the other way around,” Harry said.

“It isn't exactly unusual,” Bob commented after a light-hearted mockery about the kitten's oh-so-original name, to which Harry had answered by sticking out his tongue when his teacher wasn't looking. “Cats tend to be more comfortable around the supernatural than dogs and horses, for example.”

“And some people,” Harry pointed out.

“And some people, yes. Which leads us to the other reason why you got a cat, besides trying to avoid you hating me by proxy. They are intelligent; they have ears and eyes to hear and see things humans cannot. Thus, they can warn their masters of danger, provided said masters know how tol Developed historical Mister third skill: walking, running, jumping events and silently with a bell hanging from His neck. Thus, Harry Had to go back to tracking historical cat by instinct alone while Bob helper him to come up with a spell guaranteed to make the bell sound Every time the cat Moved, Regardless of Any ninja-like abilities.

Mister-Everyone-but hoped the issue to Be Solved soon.

About a week after the Mister-behind-the-books incident, Harry sat WAS Earlier Than usual to bed; His uncle Had a visitor and I wanted absolute privacy. It Was Always Like That. Uncle Harry Meet Justin never let none of His Friends normal business partners under the excuse That I Would not Understand Half of What They Talk about, That or he'd misunderstand andverything and think I Could end up doing Things I wasn't ready for. annoying, pero Harry Had to Comply. I WAS under His uncle's roof and, anyway, I Did not have any good counterclaim. (Counterclaim

But, as He Was His taking off shoes, I made Mr. WAS nowhere in the room. The damned cat

Flu Symptomsenlarged Stomach [The Dresden Files (TV)] Truth Be Told (eighth)

Title: Truth Be Told
Fandom: Dresden Files (TV)
Characters / Pairings: Bob, Harry, Justin
Rating: PG-13
Length: This chapter: +2400
Summary : AU. What Would Have Happened if Bob Had Suffered a radical change of heart and taken to Himself to Protect Harry When I Was Young?
Spoilers: For the episode 1x10 "What About Bob?"

WAS
Harry Through the window looking longingly to Morningway's exuberant, luxurious, and Extremely lonely garden. That WAS aware Bob felt His pupil sunny days, Such as this one, there only to make him despair. Or, as Harry Himself Would put it, to rubit describes, for example, as' Disturbing ',' eerie ',' frightening ',' cold ', and events' ew, What the ...?' Had the first time Harry accidentally walk through him. Still, After All These Years, a small part of Bob continues to hope, to dream, of a painful bump.

"Sorry," Bob Heard, and it Took him a moment to realize Harry meant to Being inattentive to apologize for trespassing and for His teacher's personal space so crudely, Not Because I pitied him. At least, I did not right That moment.

Bob sighed.

Harry wasn't one of the first student guardians Many historical Through the Centuries Had put in His charge, But He Was The Youngest of them all. As well as one of the brightest and with the MOST potential. Either Morningway or if the Council and. Incomplete Knowledge, Even with good intentions, results Worse Than Had always misused complete Knowledge, the axiom went, serving as proof That, at the end, the whole affair Would switching-teachers end up Being Dangerous with a capital D for everyone Involved.

Following this line of impeccable logic, it Became an understatement That no-one but Bob Could Harry Dresden now teach about the subtleties of the Art

"Did you finish already?" Asked Bob next, Referring to a test I ' d Given to Harry about half an hour ago.

"Uh, not yet. I got a little confused with the last one, "the boy said. Bob

Look at the clock on the bookshelf. Less than fifteen minutes for lunch. Most of the time, it Did not matter, pero Morningwaand WAS at home That day, the man Believed HAVING lunch with His nephew Once in a while Would Help Them to bond successfully, and I got very upset if Harry Was not There on time.

"Can you solve it on your own Within the next ten minutes or do you need a pointer?" The ghost asked. TAPPED Harry

the paper with historical finger. "It says what's Better to capture threads of moonlight, water or mirror, if I wanted to tie an Incan mummy. The thing is, I remember you said water gets you Stronger threads, But It Also Takes Longer and If There's a freaking mummy chasing me, I'd sorta like to try something, y'know, more effective. "

" And mirrors Are Easier Than to carry around a body of water, "Bob added, choosing Not to reprimand Harry about historical vocabulary his time around.

Harry looked at Bob with shifty eyes. “Well, yeah, there's that too...”

“But...?”

Harry looked from the desk to Bob and then breathed deeply before answering, “I'd pretty much rather to blast the thing with fire or something... I mean, if it doesn't belong to a museum or... stuff...”

Bob rolled his eyes in an attempt to stop an undignified fit of laughter. “In other words, you'd prefer to have all the variables before making a decision,” he said after a second, “otherwise known as 'thinking on your feet'.”

“Is that too bad?”

“Not really. When you're on the field, thinking creatively can save your life. Nevertheless, right now you're onXC In many occasions, Bob had felt the urge –the need– to drop some warning to Harry, but it was strictly forbidden for him to meddle with his current guardian's affairs.

Bob's train of thought made an abrupt pause when he realized something regarding the precise wording of those instructions.

Meddling was strictly, yet tacitly forbidden.

He didn't remember any member of the Council nor any of his guardians giving him such an order directly, and he had an excellent memory.

Maybe, he thought, maybe he would be able to do something within that small field of action he had left.

Another realization dawned on him and Bob sighed again.

He was more than doing exactly what he'd told himselfne That Would not Last Longer Than Harry's blind obedience. One that made even more NECESSARY for Bob to Proceed With His plan. Kept talking

Morningway. "I Do not Want to Give Something he'd hate him, But if I ask him, I Would spoil the surprise. You know Better Than I do him, "He Said, a small hint of bitterness in His Voice That Sound out of place," so tell me, What do you think I Would like? "

After the FEW more seconds it Took Bob Himself to put together, I started thinking What Would Harry sort of animal like best, That one would stay out of the way enough for Morningway Not to change His mind about it Later. I soon found it in the first places on the list of traditional familiars.

"I did not know you coulrst situations that you could ever find yourself in. One that is, sadly, far too frequent in the real world for anyone's comfort.”

Harry stared at Bob, intrigued.

Bob waited a few seconds to build up even more tension before leaning over his student and finally said, as ominously as he could, “Listen carefully: just by belonging to your uncle's—to your mother's family, you have powerful enemies guaranteed, so, tell me, what if an evil, adult, human wizard were after you?”

Harry nodded slowly in understanding. Maybe even a little scared by this possibility he hadn't contemplated.

Good.

Ed and Al went into Mustang's office attached to stubs instead of waiting HavocGray, a wooden door and a window to the center on each side covered with curtains that did not stop to see the interior.

"From what we deduce that is not a State Alchemist, Ed said while knocking on the door ahead.

Al nodded, remembering the enormous and luxurious houses that used to have the State Alchemists could afford to have a fixed place of residence.

s fixed at a spot on the wall. And I Kept on sighing deeply.
After a little while, she finally spoke. Among her words Were the ones Jack wanted to hear: "Why do not we go to a beach? The three of us. " Jack Beamed and this eleven He Was Being totally sincere.
Had The idea hit Jack as soon as I woke up one morning a couple of days ago. It Was Formed full, all the details Were Worked out, all WAS I HAD to do take it to practice. As if it'd Been Had His Subconscious Worked on it for quite a while now, Which Would not Have the captain surprised one bit. He Was That Great. And this brainchild of historical Had Been a success. The Doctor Just Could not say no to Rose and the TARDIS now on I WASr way to a hot, wet place where Jack could enjoy the sight of both the Doctor and Rose in swimsuits for a few days. Because she was going to convince him to go into the water, Jack was sure of it, and it'd be silly even for the Doctor to swim with a leather jacket. Hence, swimsuit.
Rose was already wearing a very lovely light dress with a flower pattern, and the captain himself was also aptly attired with a white, short-sleeve shirt and a pair of black shorts. The Doctor hadn't changed his clothes, but he'd been busy deciding exactly where they'd go, so he'd do it when they get there. Hopefully. “Here we are!” the Doctor announced proudly when they landed. “On the other side of the door is the beautiful, tropical island of Kaua'i, Hawaii!” CHTMLhen he bent down towards them.
Immediately, the Doctor gave a step forward and raised his arms slightly to put them in front of Jack and Rose. That made Jack feel both flattered and appreciated, but he still prepared himself to take action if needed. Which at the end didn't seem to be likely, since the shark put his gun away. “Excuse me,” he said, very politely. “Have you seen a small, blue, fluffy beast around here?” He used two of his three fingers to indicate how small the beast he was looking for was.
“No, we haven't,” the Doctor said, calmly.
The shark sighed, rubbing his face with his hand. “Oh, well. That's yet another day lost.” “You're not from around here, are you?” the DSystem, either from the fourth or the eighth planet,” the Doctor said. “They can be dangerous when cross.”
Jack nodded. “Duly noted.”
“But what's he doing here?” Rose asked. “And why would he think anyone would believe he's from Samoa?” Jack added.

The Doctor turned to them and grinned. “Let's find out!”

The big shark was easy to follow; he'd let a path of destroyed vegetation and his prints were quite obvious. This guy had failed all his courses on camouflage, and very painfully so. Jack poked at one of the prints with the point of his foot, thinking he would never trust someone so careless with a plasma gun. Too bad someone already had.

The trail led them to a small, lovely town where no one was panicking. There was no alien in sight, but the footprints were all along the main street.

“Maybe he made himself invisible,” Jack mused.

“Could be,” the Doctor said. “He didn't look like he wanted to create chaos or hurt people—”

The Doctor was interrupted by a scream. A child's scream.

Startled, the three of them ran towards the source of the noise.

They got to an alley, where a little girl in a red-and-white mu'umu'u who couldn't be older than six, had been cornered by the giant shark.

“Where is the trog?” he was asking the girl.

And he was pointing at her with his gun.

Jack frowned. That guy had crossed the line. Big time. The captain looked at the Doctor, awaiting instructions.

The Doctor had already taken out his sonic screwdriver and he didn't look happy, to say something.

Nice meeting you, sharkie.

The girl stuck her tongue out. She seemed more angry than scared. “I'm not telling you anything, you big bully.”

The kid was brave, Jack had to admire that.

“Don't make me count to three,” the shark warned, very slowly.

“You don't scare me,” the girl said, crossing her arms.

“One...”

Jack attempted to step forward, but the Doctor stopped him.

“Doctor?” Rose asked, but the Doctor ounity to run away. Though she take her time to kick the shark's foot on her way to where the time travelers were. From there, she began to make faces at the shark.

Jack turned to see Rose. She looked as confused as he felt; that made him feel a little better.

“Excuse me,” the Doctor began, hands on his back. “Cornering a little girl with a gun is some sort of tradition in Samoa?”

“He does it all the time,” the girl said, matter-of-factly.

The shark flailed. “That's because you just don't cooperate!”

“You should be ashamed of yourself,” The Doctor added, harshly. “Very, very ashamed.”

Jack remembered what the Doctor had said earlier about that species being proelt down and Look at the girl in the eyes. "What's your name?" I Asked after a second.

"I'm Lilo. Who are you? "

" I'm the Doctor. And These, "He Said while standing up," are Rose and Captain Jack. THEY ARE going to take you home. "

" Hello, "the girl said. The recently Appointed

bodyguards gaped at the Doctor.

"Why are you so calm?" Rose asked. "I WAS going to kill her!"

"Nah, I wasn't," the Doctor said. "The gun WAS set on net-throwing, NOT plasma-throwing. And you knew That, Did not You? "I Asked Lilo, Who Nodder. "I want to know what's happening here and I'm not going to interrogate a child. So, let's find ourselves an adult Who Knows Whatith you? "

" He Wants my dog in a jar. "

" Okay. I'm even more confused now, "Jack said.

"Surely that's why the Doctor Did not Want to interrogate a child," Rose said. The street door

Opened and closed again. Jack look up to say the lovely clerk Would Be back in a moment, But There Was No One There.

In times long gone, I Would not Have Thought of it twice, But Things change a lot Had Since I Became a TARDIS crew member, so I Stood up and Prepared Himself for the unknown. Rose's hand

Suddenly historical CATCHER arm. She Was looking up, so I did the Same.

There Was a big-eared, blue upside-down animal crawling on the ceiling.

"What is that? Rose asked.

“That's Stitch. He's my dog,” Lilo said cheerfully, leaving aside pencil and paper. “I have a license and everything.”

“Your dog is walking on the ceiling,” Jack pointed out, hating himself for being forced to say the obvious.

“He's become a Spiderman fan lately,” Lilo said with the ease of either a six-years-old with a huge imagination, or someone who's spent too much time hiding aliens under a bed. “Come here, Stitch! Be a good dog!”

Stitch then moved all the way to a wall and he walked it down. It was creepy, like watching a four-legged, two-eyed, blue, fluffy spider. Once he was on the floor, he came to sniff both Jack and Rose while wagging his very short tail.

“He looks more like a koala,” Rose commented.

Lilo hugged Stitch. “He was a pure breed until he was hit by a truck. Do you want to pet him? He doesn't bite and has all his shots.”

Rose looked at Jack. He knew she was thinking the same thing: Lilo's 'dog' matched the description of the beast the shark was looking for. This made things clearer. Though not more than a little bit.

Following with the act, Stitch barked. It didn't sound like a natural bark whatsoever, but Lilo was beaming proudly.

The door opened again. This time it was another quite obvious alien. Fat, mostly purple, literally four-eyed, and dressed in a Hawaiian shirt and blue shorts.

“There you are!” the newcomer said pointinere at the last minute and made him run away!” Besides going though all of it with one breath, she also mimicked the whole adventure with more action that it'd actually had.

“Really?” Nani jumped over the counter to hug her little sister. “Are you all right?” She looked up gratefully to the TARDIS crew, but the Doctor dismissed her with a nonchalantly “It was nothing” before she could say something.

“What I want to know if why there are so many aliens here,” he added.

“I can tell you that,” Jumba the Ukrainian said. He had just come back the room dragging a yellow, three-legged, one-eyed guy, wearing a mu'umu'u like Lilo's, and who surely was the Pleakley Jumba and Nani had been talking about. “If you're smart enPractically indestructible him to Be, To Have the strength to lift 3000 times His own weight, to think as fast a supercomputer. Programmed And I'd Have to him the only purpose of Creating chaos and destruction Wherever He Went! "I Laughed maniacally For a few seconds, of Which I wiped after a tear. "Ah, good times, good times ..." The Doctor frowned

. "That's What I Heard That except for the part he'd come to Earth."

"They Kept it in Secret to Avoid Panic on the Population," Pleakley said. "And that's Why They sat me here to direct the operation. It Was a hard, secret mission to Be Carried in a hostile environment, So They Pick the best of the best. "He Was smugly rubbing nails on historical historical mu'umu'u, Betraying just how he'd Be nativestill here Because you failed in your mission. "

" That's ... a way to put it, yes. But try with 'exiled' and you'll Have the picture, "Jumba said. "Stitch Being a weapon of massive destruction, criminal convicts me, Pleakley Getting Involved ... The Great Councilwoman let us here under the custody of Lilo and Nani. "

" She sounds like a sensible woman, "Rose said.

"She is," the Doctor said. "We can go and Meet Later her, you'll like her. She Always Tender to the Solomonic approach. "

Now That Were the facts more or less sorted out, Jack found Himself Not feeling very happy about HAVING to Fight Against yet another alien invasion. There Was Something still bothering him, and I Knew That If That wasn'T cleared out now, he'd MOST Probably Regret Not Asking. "Excuse me, professor Jookiba, But Did not You Say That You're still doing your experiments?"

"Just Jumba. And yes, yes. But I do not do organics anymore. I'm stuck with cutlery. By the way, Nani, I owe you a new blender. "Nani

whimpered.

"I'm really glad all of this has a logical Explanation," Said the Doctor, the worst part That Which He Was Being Indeed correct. "I would've Hated to schedule the thwarting of an alien invasion DURING Our holidays. Now We Can spend the whole day on the beach with a clean conscience. "

Rose raised her hand. "Sounds good to me!"

"Me too!" Jack Said Privately while begging for Those new and lad by a prancing Lilo to the Promised beach, Rose Asked the Doctor if I Planned to Do Something about Gantu.

"I'll try to talk sense Into him," the Doctor said. "And fix his gun. I'll let it stuck in net-throwing, "Before I added Neither Jack or Rose Could complain. "You do not know of a good, brave, contemporary massagist foot, do you, Rose?"

"Not I, But maybe my mum does," she answered.

"Oh, great, Then!"

"Do Time Lords swim?" Asked Jack, unable to Contain Himself Any Longer.

"Yes, we do. Why?

"Because you do not look like you're ready ..."

"Oh, That. Well, I wasn't sure about this year's degree of modesty, beaches Are not Exactly my area of expertise.”

Jack smirked. “I can help you with that.”

“Of course you do!” the Doctor beamed as Rose giggled behind them.

dling what seemed to be a very old book. His hands were covered with rubber gloves, which stressed out the youngster's need to keep it intact. Of course, Artemis was always neat like that; it was, along with his powerful brain, one of his defining characteristics. Sometimes, Butler wondered how his life would be if he had to protect a normal boy, one who actually acted his age, whose biggest ambition were to sneak out of the house to go to a party and meet girls.
Butler suppressed a shudder. He wouldn't like it. It'd be frustrating. How other bodyguards endured trailing behind a badly dressed, dull kid who enjoyed loud music right into his ears, was a mystery for Butler. He'd most probably end up returning this hypothetical master back to his house everyinburgh, but further north,” the youngster said as he gestured to his bodyguard to look at the book.
Butler did as he was told and looked. The yellow, frail pages opened over the table showed the drawing of a castle, and the flowery letters formed words in Old English. “It tells the story of a magic school founded by four powerful wizards,” Artemis said, simply.
Butler stopped himself before saying 'And you believe that?' After all, they'd suffered a siege by gnomes before. His highly intelligent master believing in the existence of a couple of medieval wizards shouldn't be enough to surprise him anymore.
“Quite fascinating, I assure you. But that's not it. Turn the page,” Artemis added. Butler did so. There Was a map there, pointing the exact location school this WAS supposed to be. At the far north of Scotland. The bodyguard Nodder. "There're going." It was a statement, not a question. Artemis
desk Walked Towards historical and historical Moved Butler laptop's screen so Could see it. "That I've Been Investigating spot. All satellites show only the ruins of a medieval castle. "
What's So Surprising about that? Butler Thought, But He Did not voice it. Instead, I patiently as Artemis Awaited produced in rustic thick book from one of the desk drawers. It Looked Fairly new.

"This is the newest edition of the book I just Show You. It Was printed this year. " Now, That Was Surprising. Evenby Butler's new standards.

Artemis handed him the book, whose cover said 'Hogwarts, A History'. Butler quickly found the same page he was looking at in the oldest one. It had the same drawing, but everything was written now in modern English. “The school is still active,” Artemis said. “I want to see it. Just see it,” he repeated, waving his hand. “Think of it as a spontaneous holiday.” Butler sighed inwardly. Of course, Artemis would be the only person on Earth whose idea of a holiday was to infiltrate in a magic school already knowing first hand how dangerous magic could be. At least, it truly seemed spontaneous. [info] And he wasn't planning on stealing anything this time around. Hopefully. This job will never be boring
, he told himself as he left the room to pack.

-
Butler spent his time on the plane reading 'Hogwarts, A History', getting familiarised with the new ground he and Artemis were going to step into.
“Artemis, it says here that the school is protected by spells so only wizards and witches can see it.”

“Yes,” Artemis said. He was reclined in the seat, his eyes closed and his hands on his lap.

“How are we going to get in?”

The corners of Artemis' mouth curved upwards in a way that made Butler shiver. Slightly. “I'll tell you when we get there,” the boy said.

“Very well,” he said as he went back to his reading. He was still curious, but he trusted his young master. He only hoped the weapons he'd prepared were enough to keep them both safe.

-

They've been walking through a forest for about half an hour, after it become obvious the motorised vehicle couldn't take them any further. Artemis hadn't voiced any kind of complain, despite the fact that he hated, as Butler knew far to well, to engage in any physical activity. Butler didn't even thought of offering himself to carry him. That idea wouldn't be welcomed at all; it crashed with Artemis dignity, probably the only thing the boy would be willing to die for.

Artemis was walking ahead, holding a GPS he consulted frequently. He stopped, all of a sudden, a few meters away from a clearing. “Here,” he said as he put the device in his backpack.

“There are no ruins here,” Butler said.

Artemis walked towards the clearing and brushed away the fallen leaves with his foot. “But there's a path.”

Artemis was right, as usual. There was a stone path, apparently as old as the book in Artemis' study. Now Butler knew that it was there, it was easy for him to see it came down from the hill and went down until it was lost from sight.

“According to my sources,” Artemis said, “the students get a few Saturdays free to go to the town down there, today being one of them. My plan, as you're surely imagining right now, is wait here until one of them comes alone and make him take us there. That wayWe Should Be Able to see the school. "
Butler
Nodder. It made sense, as usual. Though now the idea of HAVING to intimidate a teenager Into going back to school made him feel a little bad, magic or not, he'd much Rather Have to scam yet another crime lord. About one hour

Later, a long thread of boys and girls dressed in black robes Walk Down the path. Butler Did not bother to Be Surprised. I just Prepared to scare the soul out of the first I saw That unfortunate student coming all by Himself.
A good twenty minutes Later, Their lone Appeared. It Was a blond boy who Seem To Have A stuck scorn on His face. I WAS looking at the floor as I walked, and I WAS muttering to Himself, so I did not notice Until Neither Butler Artemis normal hon, You Do not want my friend to use historical 'wand'. Then Dumbledore Not Only Will not hear about your father, your father Will not you hear about. "

That's too harsh, Artemis.

But, then again, this WAS They Were dealing with magic.

"I am not going anywhere!" The boy said. "Can not Have wands Muggles! You Do not Have Magic! "I WAS scared Than Obviously more disgusted. Artemis

historical folded arms. "Just Our Luck. We had to Meet One of Those pure-blood supremacists. Butler, show him. "

Butler shot at one of the trees That Surrounded Them. The sound of it and the branch That Fell on the floor Had finally scared the blond boy.

"You see now?" Artemis asked. "We're notough.” Artemis reached out his hand. “Shall we go?”

The blond boy took it with his own. It was like if he was being forced to touch the body of a rat dead one month ago.
He's now one minute older,
Butler thought, holding up a snicker.

-

“That was quite an experience, don't you think so, old friend?” Artemis said as he sat down on his chair, back at Fowl Manor.

“I thought they were going to make us forget everything,” Butler said.

“Who could say no to a first edition of 'Hogwarts, A History'?”

Butler shuddered at the memory of the librarian and the bushy-haired girl who had stepped forward to talk about the historical value of the

The next day after the terrible chain of events at Kirby Plaza, it becomes clear that we'll have toI next apartment building in the list I copied from the newspaper. Who says karma does not work?

-

Micah and I Are Once installed and he's Been Placed under the care of Our landlady, I go out to find a lawyer and a job. Jessica Provided us with a respectable Amount of money, But It Will not last forever. We do not know for how long we're going to stay in this city, and Then There Are the hospital bills.

no more Than I walk two blocks When I run into a man with horned-rimmed glasses. I've seen him somewhere, I'm sure of it.

He nods a greeting and as I remember, I Was There at Kirby Plaza, two nights ago. He looks too confident for this to Be a coincidence. Thinking of That makes me Cautions. He Seems To

notice it because he goes straight to the point. “I need your help,” he says like he means it. “You're the only one who can understand.” Then he introduces himself as Noah Bennet and explains everything: his job, his family, his daughter, what he's done. He doesn't look like the martyr-type, but he makes it easy to read between the lines of his words that he's willing to die for his family, to kill for them.

I can certainly relate to that: even though through Jessica, I've done it myself.

Now that Linderman's dead, the Company, as he calls it, in a way that makes you feel the capital C, is reorganizing itself as we speak, but it's still a corporate chaos. Bennet wants use that window, which won't last long, to secure his wife and son, those who dithink of His daughter. I remember her, the Girl Who Was reluctantly willing to kill Nathan Petrelli's brother and Exploded Before He Killed us all. I remember how I felt relief when to Nathan Eichmann her up and she Did not Have to shoot.

I say yes to him then. That brave man raised this child, He Wants to keep her safe.

She Deserves to be safe as Micah does, so I'll keep her safe for him back Until He Comes.

-

Claire moves in two hours after Bennet spoke with me. "It 'Will not Be for Long, Claire-bear," I tells her.

I smile at the nickname. Also I realize I'm jealous at the way I've Holds whispers her cheek When he'll come back as soon as I can. Truly He looks like a great father, the likes of Which I 'e right shoulder covered with improvised bandages. Scared, I scold him for not telling me about it before; I could've brought a first-aid kit at the very least.

“I didn't have time,” he says. “I've a friend who can intercept their communications, but I didn't want to press my luck.”

If this is what he calls luck, I think I don't want to run into him in a bad day.

He says his friend has deactivated the school's alarm, so we can go into the infirmary if I break the door. I'm uncomfortable with the idea but, despite having his charming smile on, it's obvious he's in pain. And in need of real medical assistance.

“I think you need a doctor,” I say.

He shakes his head and focuses his eyes on min opposite.

-

Soon, I have him all cleaned up and properly bandaged. At least more properly than he was before. I did my best, but I'm not nurse nor doctor, and I keep telling him so.

“You've done a great job, regardless,” he says, proudly.

I feel my cheeks warm up. “Thanks,” I mumble, hating myself because I'm suddenly feeling like a schoolgirl praised by his favorite teacher. “What happened to you?”

He shrugs as much as he can without hurting himself. “Nothing out of the ordinary. I was on my way back when I noticed two of them were right behind me. They... were a threat I couldn't risk.” His voice becomes deeper when he says that last phrase and that unsettles me.

RNo, There's nothing wrong. "

Go for it! Jessica
Urges. How WAS
That phrase from That silly movie you like? Carpe diem

, is not it?

"I can't-"

"Are you sure you're all right?" Bennet ASKs forward as I eat.

He's right next to me now and I can feel His warmth and smell the iodine I put on him minutes ago and I sounds like I genuinely cares.

I Become aware That if He Touched Me, I'm going to melt.

Hell, Niki! Am I Going to Have to seize the day for you?

"Do not you dare!" I say, or so I try. Effortlessly

, Jessica shoved me away, But only for long enough for her to reach out and kiss Bennet. She lets me take control again once he's taken me by the elbows and is kissing back.

The bitch knows I'm not going to be able to push him away now.

His hands trail down my back and my body chooses that moment to remind me that it's been really long since I've had any.

No, whatever Jessica did doesn't count for me.

I move my hand up tracing his chest to reach his neck. When I pass over the bandages, I press over his wound without noticing. The sudden pain makes him jump.

The kiss is broken and I'm brought back to reality. I think of D.L. and the face I've put in Bennet's wife fills my mind.

I begin to apologize, but he doesn't let me. He doesn't apologize edea, smiles a little Though I When Claire tells him she'll write to him as soon as I can. Bennet

kneels down. "You know your way around computers, do not you?" I ASKs to Micah.

"Of course I do." Bennet

winks. "Then ask for Wireless in the net. She'll keep us in touch. "Broadly

Micah smiles now. "Yeah, I already know her."

I raise and eyebrow and make a point to ask Micah Not only who's Wireless Later, But to make a list of His friends on the Internet. The kind of people you find unsettling is Out There. Bennet

picks up Claire's suitcase and says goodbye. Micah Clare and me hugs and kisses us on the cheek.

Then, they're gone Both.

“Dad's being released from the hospital tomorrow in the afternoon,” Micah says suddenly.

“How do you know? They called while I was away?”

“Nope. They'll call you first thing in the morning. I checked with the hospital's computer. By the way, I got you a fifty-percent discount.”

Now I'm scandalized. “Micah! What have I told you about being responsible with your powers, young man? Haven't you learned anything from the comic books you read?”

“I didn't know you read them,” he replies, blinking innocently.

“Of course I do! Otherwise I wouldn't let you do it.” I fold my arms. “But that's not the point.”

Micah's eyes broaden.“D'you want me to make them charge y

all he needed to complete his image of self-confidence was a pair of dark glasses; besides, by taking them off in the right way, they'd increase his sex-appeal, turning him into a chick-magnet. Next, it came to his mind that Hiro, being able to bend time and space, was a living proof that superpowers were real, so, if they existed, who was going to say that he, Ando, didn't have a power too?
Though, as far as he could tell, the only extraordinary ability he had was an extreme adaptability to circumstances. He snickered; that'd be a silly, or more like lame, power to have. Yet, thinking about it, it could turn out to be quite useful. It'd help him to feel comfortable in all the exotic places they'd go if, after this mission was completed, Hiro suddenly Decided to begin fighting crime all around the world. Which was very likely, if Knew His friend Ando. Ando
His Head Turned to ask Hiro About That, Both the crime fighting him and the Possibility of Having a superpower, pero Hiro WAS fast asleep. No wonder, Ando Thought, smiling, sincere I Had Spent the whole night before composing a lengthy post for His blog on the computer at the hotel they'd WHERE Spent last night. Convincing Hiro to stop at a hotel Had Been difficult. He'd wanted to keep going non-stop Until They Reached Their destination, pero Ando Needed to rest. "Do you want us to end up at the bottom of a cliff if I fall asleep at the wheel?" Ando asked. "We can not carry on your mission if we're dead." That Had Worked pretty good, and Ando Hadgotten a good night's rest Had not Even if Hiro.
Ando, of course, Hiro WAS narrating Knew Their journey to save the world on internet historical journal. Certainly he'd much as Expected, But He Was amazed at the comments Amount of Each entry had. There Were too many people encouraging Them, Though Ando Wonderer How Many of Them Actually Believe What Hiro said. Most likely, They Thought It Was a journal fictional character for an RPG, or Something Like That. Several times DURING
Said journey, if Hiro Ando pondered Had Thought of Himself as an RPG character to an Extent. It Was Hard, Even for Ando, Who Had Known him for years, to tell if Hiro ever Had Properly set against foot on Earth. After all, Hiro's life gravitated around Mostly comic books, science-fiction televisionsion series, and online gaming, to the point that it had been through comic books that he and Ando had bonded when they first met. Ando could recall very clearly the first time they'd looked at each other, and how scared Ando had been that day...
-
Ando was aware that his father called their house 'small', but he didn't think of it like that despite having seen on television that some characters lived in huge houses, specially in foreign production. After all, that was fiction and this was reallity, and his friend's houses were all roughly the same size. At least he didn't think of it like that until the day when the Nakamura household opened its gates before him.
He’d had problems believing that a building so big, big enough to be twice the size of his school, sheltered only one family. Still, he promised himself he wouldn't say a thing about it; he'd been admonished earlier that morning, while his mother dressed him to be as polite as possible while he was there. There was always the possibility that this invitation he'd gotten could translate into blessings for his whole family. Ando and his father walked down the paved road towards the main building, between two rows of cherry trees. Ando reflected briefly that it had to be wonderful being there when they bloomed, but now he had more important and immediate matters to worry about, like how he was going to survive the current experience. [info] Ando nervously held the present he’d give to his hosts. He di “I'm very pleased to meet you, Ando-kun!” Hiro said, still beaming. “Do you want to see my comic book collection?” Before Ando could answer, Hiro grabbed his arm and dragged him to a secondary entrance, and then all the way to his room, which didn't matter because Ando was going to say yes anyway, or, at least, he wasn't going to say no. The Nakamura household was as impressive on the inside as it had been from the outside. Ando surrendered himself to being led while looking around. A state of awe took the place of his fear. Everything seemed new and expensive, so Ando thought it'd be wiser to follow his mother's advice for once and not to touch anything.
He raised his left arm—Hiro held the right one in a firm grip—ad father roll his eyes and Ando's father threaten to do all kinds of nasty stuff to his son. Even with those threats, neither boy ever received a harsh punishment. Except that time when they were camping in Hiro's backyard and they fished and ate some of Mrs. Nakamura's goldfish from the pond.
The boys agreed to never mention the incident again. [info] - And, now here they were, in their craziest adventure yet, living, literally, a super-hero comic book in a strange land, with powers and all. Hopefully, the author, this Mr. Isaac, was on their side, and he would let the heroes triumph as they always did. The story would have a happy ending, well-deserved after all their hard work. Save the day and get the girl. Hiro would save tthing. I hurried things up because it makes me happy to know my son has someone to be himself with.” That conversation kept Ando awake many nights, musing on the real meaning behind Mr. Nakamura's words, 'fate' and 'destiny' specially. Still, he didn't mention them to Hiro, honoring their pact of never bringing up anything related to the goldfish incident.

Now, at this moment, driving the Nissan Versa through the United States, Ando wondered if this was what Hiro's father was talking about, that the two friends were meant to save the world. Yeah, right, Ando laughed. Mr. Nakamura was always two steps ahead, but that would be just too much, wouldn't it?

As Hiro woke up, complained about his stiff neck, asked where they were, and laughed about him not noticing earlier he was driving differently than in Japan, Ando completely dismissed that idea. It was more likely that Mr. Nakamura had bet on chance while deciding randomly which of his employees had a son around Hiro's age, and had gotten lucky.

After all, what truly mattered was that they cared for each other and they always would, until the end of the road.

There Are Many non-lethal drawbacks of being to the practitioners of wizard That Have faced the Art Through the Millennia. One of Them Is That, for Certain potions to work, They Have to handle the ingredients with, well, their hands. It has to be that way so that magic can flow straight from the wizard to the mix. Most of the time, however, it's hard to come to terms with the idea because the aforementioned ingredients tend to be the kind most people over the age of five would try their best to avoid, and if avoiding isn't an option, they'd be filled with a very obvious feeling of repugnance.

Another problem with being wizard is an inherent curiosity towards everything. Sometimes, both of them happen to collide.

But, which one is stronger?

Currently, Harry Dresden is making faces at the green goo between his index finger and his thumb, the remanent of the salamander eyeball recently dropped at the bubbly pot on his working bench, which is also the same goo he keeps stretching while opening and closing his fingers repeatedly. “Bob, are you sure this is the right recipe? Because it seems more like something taken out from children's stories about witches.”

“Yet, you seem quite happy playing with that,” Bob says. “It's good to see you let out your inner child from time to time. Now, answering to your question: yes, I am certain that's the right recipe. Also, those stories you mention do have basis in truth.”

“Except for the part where I'm not a witch,” Harry says, jokingly.

“You could be, though” Bob says with a deadpan expression. “As far as I know, a non-magical sex change is quite possible in this time and age.”

Harry snortswise until it turns bright blue. Slowly.”

“Okay.” Harry does as Bob says, his eyes still fixed on the pot's content. “But, really, what would it be to have, you know, boobs?”

Bob rolls his eyes. “Oh, dear heaven! Harry, I was just making a joke!”

“And I'm just working on a hypothesis. But let me tell you, if I was a woman, I would never wear high heels. Though I'm sure I'd look quite good on a miniskirt.”

Bob sighs. “If you really want to try it temporarily, I can tell you how.”

That certainly gets Harry's attention. “Huh?”

“Being a woman. I know a way, but it's rather... messy.”

Harry raises and eyebrow.

Bob continues. “Oneof the ingredients have a lot to do with Real Women and the Phases of the moon. "

Harry gapes at the ghost.

"I'm sure it Would Be easy for you to get it, Harry. If I May Suggest you start by asking Lt. Murphy? Judging by the mood She Was in When She Came by this morning ... "

" Are you crazy, Bob? Possibly I can not ask Murphy for-for that! She'll kill me! "

" You Could Some Also Obtain from a public restroom, But Then it'd Be Hard to get to from the Same Amount decent woman. "

Harry spends the next Several seconds Trying to Articulate a Coherent phrase. I finally IT manager. "Bob, you know what? I think we'll all Be happier if this topic is out of bounds for us from now on. "

“I happen to agree. Stir slower or you'll end up with a mess and you'll have to do everything from the top again,” Bob adds after a pause.

“I'm on it, I'm on it!”

And, thus, they never speak of the matter again.

That Has To Be the Aburame boy CHTM just as a mean of confirmation. Yep, the smell he'd expected was there, no doubt. He went back to Akamaru.
“You see?” Akamaru yelp. “My master told me to stay but then there's that and what do I do?” Pakkun scratched his head. He hated to be the one to do that sort of things, but there was no other choice if he wanted to calm the pup down. “Listen, kid,” he began, “when two humans love each other very, very much—”
It had to be that precise moment the one Akamaru's master chose to yell, “Let go, you bastard!”
Akamaru froze for a second and then he barked, “Master! My master is in danger! Hang on, master! I'll save you!”
“Kid! Wait!”
Pakkun tried to outrun Akamaru and stop him, but not only the pup had longer legs now, he was driven by loyalty and fear, so he crashed the door long before Pakkun got near to him.

From the inside, two very unclothed and very 'happy-to-see-each-other' young humans were looking at Akamaru in disbelief. They saw how the pup went straight to throw the Aburame boy from the bed and chew the ropes that tied his master to the bed.

A second later, Akamaru's master began to scold the pup for disobeying him and threatened him with lock him up at his house the rest of the month.

Pakkun rubbed his muzzle and turned around. “Next time, I'm staying with Kakashi,” he sighed as he walked away from the crime scene.

nanimity, had began to try and compensate him for all his misfortunes. Yes, he'd lost his beloved Black Pearl to a band of ungrateful mutineers, and he'd barely escaped death by means of a crew of big-hearted rum smugglers who, instead of killing him for having drunk a good half of their reserve, they'd been kind enough to only make him their slave. Jack had escaped very easily from them too as soon as they reached land. Of course, after he gathered his effects, he'd 'borrowed' some money which he used a little later to celebrate his new regained freedom in the fist tavern he found.
Then, he'd commandeered a ship just big enough for him to sail it on his own and he went on his way.
Now, in his quest for the Black Pearl, a couple of monthwith grass still on STI mouth, looked at him curiously. It Had not run away And That Could Be Said to Be a Good Beginning. Jack Broadly Smiled. "Come 'ere, doll. That's a good ... gr-bo-goat. " The goat head tilted STI, STI chew grass and Swallow it. Then, three times the animal bleat.
There Was A Moment of Silence and Then to howl answered.
A howl, like in 'A Dangerous animal Known as a wolf is near. " And, According To His awful Experiences in mainland, it was very unlikely for one wolf to Be just one. Jack look around while playing with His fingers. The
volume meant to the howl of the wolf Exactly wasn't far away from the spot I WAS standing in. Still
, and JaNoticed Quickly ck this, the goat, to prey by ITS very nature, fear and Stock Did not show at all after hearing a predator. Actually, it just bleat again. And the wolf howler again-this time it sounder NEAR. That Was getting Odder and Odder, and for a Man Who Had Been Through What Jack Had Been Through to say it, it Certainly Was a lot.

The 'dialogue'-Jack Could Call It Any Other Way-continue for Nearly a minute, and the wolf Seem To Be Getting Closer and Close Every time it Howl. What am I still doing here? I Asked to Himself, But He Did not answer, I Was Just too Enthralled by the whole thing.

Suddenly, the goat Gave Jack one last look, Turned around and left the clear. It Walked Towards thack Look Around, There Was no trace of the animal, Not Even a Movement in the bushes back there. Jack Regained His gait then. I loaded the water and the animals he'd hunted to historical ship and left the island.

Once again in the sea, I did wonder What Being Had all that's about, But, as many mysteries in this life, I soon Reach the conclusion That he'd Be Better Not Knowing.

"Gibbs, excuse me, But That Has To Be The Most Stupid Jack Sparrow story you've Told us so far," Will said.

"And one of the must-disgusting," Elizabeth said.

"Yet, it's true," Said Gibbs firmly. "It's your decision if you don't want to believe me But, somewhere in the Vast Sea, There's an Icelandicd where a goat is protected by a wolf.”

“Which is a beautiful metaphor until you throw Jack to the mix,” Will said, to which Elizabeth nodded.

Gibbs shrugged. “That you can say of Jack and everything else.”

Neither Will nor Elizabeth could find anything they could retort to that.

Make Your Ownwresling Cards

away. He didn't care at the moment if someone saw him. He went back home, hoping his wife would believe him, if only because he was planning to enter through the window. Heidi did understand. She was a little shocked at first, but by the time Nathan had finished his story, downright to Claire's existence and his affair with Niki Sanders, she was pretty much willing to believe. “I think very unlikely you invented all of this just to tell me you had an affair—and a daughter before we met.”
“I thought Claire was dead,” Nathan uttered.
“And that affair ended up saving your life,” Heidi said, shaking her head. “Nathan, I'm not going to pretend I'm not hurt. I am. It hurts, but—” She sighed and removed the hair from her face. “You went through all of this by yourself. How many times have I told you I'm not made of glass?” “I know. I—”
She walked up to him, put a finger on his lips and hugged him. “I love you, Nathan. We'll go through this, somehow. We'll find Peter, and maybe I can even be friends with your daughter.”
He hugged her back and buried his face on her neck, feeling like he was the one made of glass. “I love you too, Heidi,” he mumbled. “You know,” she said after a while, without letting go. “I'm feeling very tempted to say 'I was right about your mother'.” Nathan chuckled, unable to help himself, really grateful by the sudden change of mood.
“But that'd be tasteless,”Suresh TMLXC raised His hands, like Every Time I tried to Explain Something complex to the unenlightened. "There's this person Who Has the Ability to Locate Anyone in the world, with one exception. Though I Doubt That Truly Be one to Peter, "I added, hurriedly.
"Is this person also 'special'?" Asked Nathan, frowning. "Yes."
"Would I Be willing to help us?" "She. And yes. But we're going to need your help with a little something first. " [info] Nathan Nodder. Nothing in this life WAS free, and the good professor Looked Like I Would Never do an unreasonable Proposal. "What is it? Name it and it's yours. "Suresh Breathed deeply and Tapped His fingers the desk with a couplxt morning. "I would've done it Through the Proper Channels, but-" Suresh made to pause and Looked Away. "I'm Not Exactly a legal citizen in this country, you know?" "You Will Have That too." That startled

Suresh. "I did not ask you for That."

Nathan Shrugged. "But You Can Have It." "Not Everyone Wants to Be an American." Suresh sounder Somewhat hurt.

"Probably not, But it'll help to speed up the adoption paperwork. Además, It'll Be Easier for me to make you an American Indian Than to make her. And You Can Have two Citizenships, can you not? "Suresh

sighed. "I-I guess ..."

"Listen, to make it up for you, Also I can makester.

“Listen, honey,” Suresh said in a sweet tone of voice Nathan wouldn't have believed him capable of, “Mr. Petrelli wants you to help him find his brother, Peter. In return, he's going to help us to become a family.”

“Really?” the child said, looking from Suresh to Nathan.

“Yes,” Nathan said. “Yes, I will. As a matter of fact, you can go from here to the professor's place as soon as you tell me where he is.”

The girl smiled lovely—why couldn't boys smile like that? “Very well,” she said. She stood up and faced the city's map spread on Nathan's desk. She closed her eyes for a moment and promptly pointed a spot with her little finger. “Here.”

That was pretty much the little brother the historical place Would Be drawn at nurse. Why I Had not Thought of That Before? Because if he'd started by looking in the hospitals for Peter, it would've Been as a patient, NOT as part of the staff. And Because I Had not, after Witnessing Peter coming back to life and Claire running away five seconds theecause it'd minimize the chance of Peter going invisible on him. It Turned out

That Peter was very easy to spot. I WAS alone in a table by the window, eating lunch historical. The Back of His Head To Be Eichmann him in a great shape for someone who'd Been a nuclear bomb a fortnight before. As soon as

Nathan managed to get right behind Peter. I bent over a little and Said, "Hello, Pete."

After Peter assured everyone That WAS Indeed His brother Nathan, That I wasn't from the mob, And That He Did not owe him money, además Those fifty cents he'd borrowed at age eight and never Gave back - Nathan was allowed to be with his brother in a private room.

“Nathan, I know you're angry—”

“Anger doesn't begin to cover it, Pete. Do you have any idea of how many nights have Heidi and I spent awake, waiting for the phone to ring or for a knock in the door?”

“Fourteen?” Peter offered.

Nathan snarled. “Don't try to be funny.”

“Sorry.” Peter sighed and smiled apologetically.

“Why didn't you come back? Or at least why didn't you let us know you were fine?”

“There were two reasons. One, I wasn't ready. I mean, I nearly destroyed the whole city!” He looked away. “I just needed to be alone for a while and come to terms with it.”
CHTMbsolutely furious after months. Yet, Nathan decided to skip that detail. “First, you draw better than Mr. Mendez...”

“I've been practicing.”

“Second,” Nathan raised and eyebrow, “I'd thought we'd established that future isn't set in stone.”

Peter looked at his brother sheepishly. “I know, but this wasn't an exploding city or anything like that, so...”

Nathan pressed the bridge of his nose. “Careful, you're still under a death threat.”

“Fair enough. So, uh, have you heard anything from Claire?”

“A certain Noah Bennet sent me a polite warning to stay away from his daughter a couple of days ago.” Nathan sighed. That wasn't exactly a pleasant memory. “Though maybe they'd let you go and say hi. "

" I'm sorry, Nathan. Could you maybe talk it over ... "

" Maybe, But not this soon. We've all gone through to lot. Which reminds me, I Told Heidi everything. "

Peter's eyes widen. "You did?"

"Yes."

"Claire too?"

"Yes."

"How did she take it?"

"Quite good."

"That's terrific! Are you planning on going public? "

" What? Peter, are you crazy? "

" I Was Just Asking. "

" You did an Impressive jump of logic I hope Will not Happen Again. I Will Not Go public and Neither will you. Doubt and Mr. Bennet Would I ever let Claire do it, so this family's secret secret Will Remain. "

Peter laughed. "For Not Being in the mob, Surely you think like a mobster. But yes, I do not think Noah let Claire expose herself Would Like That, I loves her. "

" I better. "Then I Noticed. "Are you on a first-name basis with That Man?"

Peter Shrugged. "Joining forces to save the world That does to people. How's mom? "Nathan Recalled

the last time I have seen historical Had His mother and scratched nose. It wasn't going to Be Pretty. "I do not know," I said. At least That Was true.

"mom Told You I Was Dead?"

What are you now, a telepath?

"Yes, as a Matter of Fact, I am. Sometimes. I met thile.

"We Need to find her," Said Peter at last. "We Must Into her to talk reason. I UNDERSTAND why you don't want to right now, but-What d'you mean Probably she'd listen to her baby? "

" Can you please turn off your telepathy? It makes me feel exposed. "

" Uh, right. Sorry. "

There Was An awkward moment of silence Before Nathan spoke again. "We Should Just Go Home."

"I can not go now. They Need me here. For Another month at least. "

Nathan made a face. "Do not tell me you're playing Robin Hood."

"No-not exactly. I just take care of them to be the best I can. "

" Do They Know "?"

"No, They Do."
CHTMNathan LXC Nodder. "You better keep it that way." He sighed. "Flight, fast healing, telepathy ... What else can you do? "

Peter blinked innocently. "I Could make you a list, But it's going to take a while."

Nathan Had to laugh. Reach Out and Then He Touched His brother's cheek. "Just Be Careful, all right? If you have any problem whatsoever, call me. If you run into someone 'special' and dangerous, call Suresh me and I'll carry all the way down here. "

Peter smiles. "I will. I will call you, I promise. "

" I Better get going, then. "

" Oh, Nathan? Let me warn you: if you don't you find your car when to get out of the hospital, do not worry, it's normal. "

" That's okay., “Up, up, and away!” as he ascended to the sky.

Summary: Wolves meet and we learn something about Paradise.
Spoilers: None.

Toboe was hungry. So hungry that he didn't care about what the others would think about him hunting alone. He was aware, however, that if he'd asked for Tsume's help, he would've gotten it, but Tsume and Hige and Kiba were more tired than hungry, unlike him. Toboe was tired too, certainly, but his stomach had rumbled and rumbled and it wouldn't leave him rest.

Toboe sniffed around, looking for something that would make an easy prey until hlf wants to go to Paradise, that's what my mother used to say.” He was going to add something but the goat Mei was faster.

“Paradise sounds like a nice place,” he said in the distinctive tone of voice of those who are sad but want to sound cheerful. “And, if you want to go, I think I can manage—”

Gabu's eyes widened and he began to flail. “What? What are you talking about?”

“You said every wolf wanted to go to Paradise,” Mei said, eyes all opened up and teary. “I would never think to stop you from—”

“Mei! I'm not going to leave you!” Gabu said, still flailing. “I'm not going anywhere!”

“But you said you wanted to go, that every wolf wanted to go...”

That's what

used to say!” Gabu calmed down, shook his head, and sighed. Then he looked at Toboe, who had been witnessing the exchange without really understanding a thing and feeling like he'd done something very wrong by asking the other wolf to accompany them to Paradise. “Listen,” Gabu said, “what I was going to say is that I don't need to go to Paradise.”

Toboe tilted his head. He'd heard that from other wolves, but all of them were worn down, unhappy, and had lost all hope. Gabu was different from all of them, quite the opposite actually.

“Why not?” Toboe asked, unable to help himself.

“Yes, why not?” Mei asked.

“Because,” Gabu said while pushing the goat with his mu

Summary: Iroh wins a contest and shares with His nephew historical price. Sadly, Not That Zuko is happy about the outcome.
Spoilers: for Some of the second season, Though this is Conceived to Happen Before ending STI.

No power in the world could've stopped Iroh from Participating in the Tea Emporium's Contest to find the Earth Kingdom's Greatest Tea Connoisseur, Zuko Did That Was why bother events. Still, sincere They Could not just leave the tea house unattended for a whole day, Iroh That left early morning on His Own to the contest. Even Thought That Would meant to Zuko hr would never send his soldiers to a pleasure trip; he has an image to maintain, you know?”

\n

“Either way, Ba Sing Se is

not

near the sea in any account.”

\n

Iroh raised a finger. “That's why we're leaving tomorrow morning, to catch up with the ship on time. The Emporium is covering all the traveling expenses, of course. It's great, isn't it? We'll get to do some sightseeing!”

\n

“We cannot go.”

\n

“Why not? It's free!”

\n

“Be—because...” Zuko couldn't bring himself to say what if the Avatar shows up while we're away? —which would so happen, if his previous luck served as a pattern. “What's going to happen with the tea house?” he asked instead.

\n

Iroh put his hands on Zuko's shoulders and looked at him in the eyes. “Nephew, right now I'm feeling really proud of you; you're showing so much responsibility towards our jobs. But never fear; the owner was a guest in the contest. I talked to him and he gave us permission to go as long as we bring him a souvenir.”

\n

This time, Zuko did rub his face with his hand.

\n

He had run out of arguments and, anyway, if he managed to come up with something else, his uncle was going to tear it apart as well. So, he went to get his traveling bag ready.

\n

He was vaguely glad he'd washed his underwear the day before.

\n

- \n For three days they traveled, through the desert, through mountains, through forests, and some villages, just like they had done it not-so-long before, only that now on a cart instead than on foot. This fact, though Zuko would never acknowledge it aloud, made the landscapes more appealing than back then. Nevertheless, he still was looking all around them for hints of the Fire Nation Army.

\n

“In times like this, I wish I was a master painter, to capture all of this beauty as it deserves,” Iroh said as they were passing by an impressive rock formation shaped rustically as a flower. Whether Mother Nature or a

creative

earthbender should be thanked for it, was debatable.

\n

“Mmmh,” Zuko replied.

\n

“I think I could take classes on the cruise. The brochure said something about it.” \n “Mmmh. "

" And There Are singing classes too. "

" Mmmh. "

" By the way, I signed you up for dancing classes. "

" You what? "Iroh

snickered. "Sorry, I just wanted to know if You Were listening." Zuko frowned

as a response.

"Relax, nephew. No-one's Following us. " His uncle Said If it, it'd be true, But Zuko Could not relax like he'd Been Told, They Had Placed Themselves in the open, They Had Become firebender fair game to Any Who Happened to Know Who They Were. Or to

Happened to Anyone Who Know Who They Were, Which Were Their Circumstances, and Want to be in good Terms with the Fire Nation.

-

\n

They reached their destination without any incident worthy of note.

\n

The port was in a lovely, vivacious town with a well-developed touristic infrastructure, the kind of which Zuko would've never set foot on by his own free will, and even less making a flamboyant fuss; if pressed, he'd probably enter the town burning random things to prove the power of the Fire Nation. However, he and his uncle were there now, with no way out of the noticing, and the hotel they arrived to was providing the flamboyant fuss—as it was part of the prize.

\n

Iroh and Zuko were welcomed by a band playing a triumphal march, some beautiful girls gave them flowers—and kisses—, and the hotel manager gave a very moving speech to the staff about The Earth Kingdom's Greagh the room and its contents weren't even close to the luxuries he'd enjoyed as a child, it was most definitely an improvement to what he and his uncle had been forced to go through in the past years.

\n

There was a small table with a fruit basket on it, some cushions to linger on scattered near a big window that provided a charming view of the sea. In the back, there were two beds, one at the side of the other. The very first thing Iroh did when they walked into the room was to jump on them to find out which one was the softest and claim it for himself.

\n

“If you don't mind, I'm going to take a nap,” Iroh said, lying down and yawning. “That was enough emotion for one day. I don't know how I'm going to survive the cruise.”

\n

“Uncle, a fact. But, all of a sudden, Zuko had had his last strike of good luck and the Avatar himself showed up for the first time in one hundred years.

\n

And, immediately after, helped by those barbarians from the Water Tribe, the Avatar had slipped from his fingers...

\n

The Avatar had slipped just like water. The irony was the one that hadn't escaped Zuko.

\n

Right when he was promising himself one more time that he was going to do fulfill his task sooner than later, Zuko heard a familiar voice that woke him up and made him hide behind the tree.

\n

He still couldn't believe it even when he saw them, walking right in front of him: he had just ran into the Avatar's friends from the Water Tribe.

\n

“Katara, are you sureThat

with the heartwarming welcoming speech Seemed a little closer now.

- Zuko

Spent the rest of the evening in the hotel lobby thinking how I WAS going to set against the trap for His uncle Avatar Without Noticing it, that'd Be The Most Difficult Part. Wonderer Also if I've Had Enough money to bribe the steward to keep the Avatar caged in the storeroom. In Any case, I WAS Certain He Did not Have Enough for Buying the hypothetical steward for the whole week, so it'd Be Better to go for the avatar near the end of the travel.

That Brought Its Own drawbacks, though. For example, Zuko That Needed to make sure the Avatar Neither friend saw the historical standards firebenders, Not only to keep the element of surprise, But Because It Was notto make in order to restore historical honor. Which was True Even if it sounds like an oxymoron.

And, on the plus side, this time around I WAS going to be the one being served, not the one doing the serving. Actually Thinking of That made him feel a little better.

-

At the end, I got the hats and the fans for free-two sets of each, even-, When I Asked the hotel manager Specially Where to Find Some Not That big and expensive. The manager Had Had Given him Smile and hats while the hatters Had Boasting about how well-respected represent That industry in town for Generations.

Had not Been This part of Zuko's original plan, But He Was running out of time, the ship WAS going to leave the port early in the morning and the shops were about to close. Besides, it'd be easier to explain those items to his uncle that way; he would've been very suspicious if Zuko told him he'd bought them.

\n

“Nice hats,” Iroh said when he saw Zuko coming into the room with the things in his hands. “But they'd look better with an orchid on them, don't you think so?”

\n

“I saw some in the back yard. Do you want me to go for one—?”

\n

“No, no. I'll go myself. I need to stretch my legs a little. Oh, and, nephew?” he added as he stood up from the cushion he was eating grapes on.

\n

“Yes, uncle?”

\n

“See how all the relaxing is working?”

\n

“Excuse me?”

\n

“We've barely begun our vacation and your mood has improved noticeably already. And your eyes are shining like they hadn't shined in a while.”

\n

“Huh...”

\n

Iroh passed an arm around Zuko's shoulders and asked, “So, was she pretty?”

\n

Zuko barely managed to babble a “Wha—?”

\n

“It's the only answer for a change so sudden,” Iroh said thoughtfully. “You met a pretty girl when you went out for your walk, didn't you? By your reaction, I gather she's going in the cruise too—”

\n

“I—I didn't meet any—”

\n

Iroh raised his hand and shook his head solemnly. “It's fine, nephew. Don't worry, I won't meddle. I promise that won't even ask if you come back late to the cabin. Just be careful, all right?” \n CHhats, let alone one with flowers on it ", so only the detail Had Improve the disguise. Either way, Zuko Fought His uncle When He Began His hat decorating the next morning, out of principle. The band

Was There When They Were again boarding the ship, playing the Same march as before. The hotel staff was There too, waving goodbye and Asking Them to come back soon. A mature, attractive woman in the back caught Zuko's eye, she WAS winking and blowing kisses to His uncle, who, in turn, WAS Broadly smiling and blowing kisses back. Right Then, Zuko Realized That I Had not Noticed When Iroh Had come back to the room the night before and held back a whine. As soon as

They set foot on the deck, the captain shook Their hands and a lovely girl put a colorful flower collar around their necks.

\n

Zuko concealed his face as much as he could behind his fan and looked around for the Avatar; it would seem like he was just admiring the ship, which, actually, deserved to be admired: it was quite big, and yet it managed to be elegant. Still, Zuko didn't put much attention to the details, only to the main structure, to the parts that would allow him to hide when and if necessary.

\n

The Avatar wasn't on that part of the deck, though his friend was, trying to be all formal and dignified—emphasis on

trying

; the fact that the waiter uniform didn't become him was the least of his problems. He was helping a reluctant old woman to take her luggage to—most probably—her cabin.

\n

Zuko frowned. WhileThat ensurer the Presence of the Avatar on board, all that's noise and flailing Could historical call uncle's Attention and Malthus put and end to Zuko's plan. Fortunately, as Zuko Noticed with the corner of His eye, Iroh WAS chatting with a group of Passengers, and the Avatar's Friend Was Gone to the lower deck in less Than half a minute.

"A drink, sir?"

Zuko look up, Somewhat startled, it Had Been a While Since You Had someone with him Addressed Such resp. It Was a middle-age man smiling a wide smile to Be Entirely too heartfelt, Though His eyes sparkle with A Certain cheerfulness, I WAS skillfully holding a tray with assorted beverages on the palm of His hand. And the uniform on him Looked Better Than on the Avatar's friend. "Yes, thank you," Zuko said, grabbing the drink whose color seemed less health-threatening.

\n

The man bobbed his head and left to attend the other passengers. Zuko took a sip of his drink and decided it wasn't all that bad.

\n

One moment later, Iroh approached to Zuko. “Nephew, let's go to our cabin. Once we're all settled down, you can go out to look for your—” (significant pause) “—

special

friend.”

\n

Zuko tried not to wince.

\n

-

\n

Since before the ship sailed, one could feel the excitement in all the passengers, but now that it had left the port, the thrill was unbearable. Or it would've been, if Zuko hadn't been so focused on his quest.

\n

He saw himself back on the sea, again looking for tI Avatar. Life Went in circles, I thought-or Rather, in spirals, sincere this time There Was No Doubt I Had the upper hand and I

WAS going to capture prey historical Once and for all.

- Iroh

Himself signed up to the painting classes I Had Talked about on Their Way to the port. And to the dancing classes, and the poetry classes, and the bakery classes. All of Which meant to counter with Zuko Several hours a day of Being absolutely sure His uncle Would Appear to-inadvertently-thwart him. Zuko

Walked all over the deck, I Had not yet seen the Avatar, pero Being Kept His friend everywhere. Currently, I Was the One Offering the drinks to the Passengers-not as skillfully as the Man Who Had Given a little historical Zuko Earlier, but at least he wasn't spilling them over.

\n

Zuko covered his face with the fan and hid behind an elderly couple as the Avatar's friend was getting closer. After he left, Zuko thought of following him, but he immediately realized that no good would come out of that, at least that early in the afternoon; the “authorized personal only” sign wasn't there just as an ornament. Therefore, Zuko decided it'd be for the best to wait until it was dark to comb the lower decks.

\n

The Avatar

had

to be somewhere, and he'd be easier to find if he was in his cabin and not moving all around serving drinks and helping old ladies to find the pool. On the meantime, Zuko decided going to sleep; he'd need to be well-rested for what he was going to do that ned, Aang!”

\n

“Me too!”

\n

“Hey! You weren't running all over the place doing... everything!”

\n

“I was washing dishes! Did you know there are like ten thousand dishes on the ship? And don't let me start on the vases!”

\n

“How did we get in this mess, again?”

\n

“You and I were running on the square because we were late to meet Katara and Toph and—”

\n

“It was rhetorical, Aang!”

\n

“He, sorry!”

\n

At the other side of the door, Zuko smiled, feeling somewhat vindicated; the Avatar was washing the dishes on the cruise ship. Washing dishes was awful; it dried your hands' skin and ruined them and...

\n

“Aang, will you keep Momoho I saw an hour ago working on this very ship?”

\n

Zuko's heart skipped a beat and glued his eyes to his uncle's face.

\n

That wasn't happening.

\n

That was

not

happening.

\n

His uncle surely had just found a long-lost friend and wanted to invite him to have dinner with them or something.

\n

Maybe he had been asked in marriage by one of the eccentric old women that were all over the ship.

\n Or maybe... \n

“Do you remember the Avatar's friend from the Water Tribe? He and the Avatar himself are working as waiters in the ship. Can you believe that?”

\n

...maybe he had seen that noisy Water Tribe barbarian.

\n

Zuko felt dizzy. And empty. But Specially dizzy. And disappointed. Bordering And in anger. Kept talking

Iroh. "I jump up to him to say hello and I Gave Exactly the Same face me you're making. But to him I Told That You and I were just Passengers Who Want to enjoy the trip as much as we Could and Avoid Any Trouble. I'm not sure I Convinced him, pero we're meeting him tonight and the Avatar on the deck to a formal truce pact. What do you think? "His uncle

Did not Want to Know What That Zuko WAS thinking right moment, so I Did not answer.

Fortunately, the food meat and soon to distract Zuko Could Them Properly sulk for a while. Though He Did not eat, he'd lost all appetite for the Time Being.

Had Been His Plans Thrown overboard by a smooth twistof fate. Though, musing on it, it'd Been That absurd to expect His uncle, Who Was far more observant Than I Seem To Be, Would not notice the Avatar's friend, absolutely Who Looked Like a fish out of the water in orange-That waiter and-yellow uniform.

-

Not bothering anymore with hiding His face, Zuko Spent the rest of the afternoon sitting on one of the deck's chairs, wondering if I could've done Something to Prevent What Had Happened. For how long

His uncle Had Known about historical plans? Since the Beginning? Certainly that'd Explain the little joke about the 'special friend'.

Zuko sighed. In a way, His uncle Would Never Stop Being the great General Iroh, the magnificent Dragon of the West. Always three steps ahead-a \n

“You really are here!” the Avatar said.

\n

“You didn't believe me?” his friend asked.

\n

“Uh, of course I did,” the Avatar said, scratching his bald head. “But you have to admit it's too much of a coincidence.”

\n

“I'd say,” Zuko sighed, folding his arms.

\n

“Well, gentlemen,” Iroh began. “We're here to pact a truce.”

\n The Avatar's friend scowled. “Yeah, right.” \n

Iroh folded his arms and hid his hands within his sleeves. “I hereby promise that you will not receive any harm from me nor my nephew,” he said simply, though in his gravest tone of voice, which apparently made the Avatar and his friend to take him seriously.

\n

The Avattion prince wished for this situation to be a bad dream. Or for him to be somewhere else, far away, where he didn't have to make this decision.

\n He just hated his lousy luck while hating everything else in the world. \n

“Nephew?” Iroh pressed.

\n

“D'you see, Aang? He doesn't want to!”

\n

“I'd take my time thinking about it too, Sokka. He's been trying to catch me for a while; this must be difficult for him.”

\n

“You're too forgiving.”

\n

Zuko scoffed. “Fine!” he said finally. “No hostilities as long as we're on the ship. I promise.”

\n

The Avatar smiled broadly. “That sounds good enough for me.”

\n

“Have I mentioned you're too forgiving, Aang? Like, recently? "

Zuko did not care if the Avatar WAS forgiving or not. What I wanted I could not get, so he'd Have to conform Himself to His cabin with going to sulk Until Dawn "Either That or throw overboard Himself, Took it to whatever end it all as QUICKLY as possible.

-

Two days later, the ship made a stop in a tropical, lush island. Iroh WAS, of course, one of the first ones to disembark, pero Zuko wasn't in the mood to follow, so I Stayed in the ship. I wasn't in a mood for anything, really.

"You've no idea of What You're going to miss," Had Iroh said. Did not answer

Zuko, Iroh so left. An hour after

Had His uncle gone, Zuko got up from bed and walk around historical'T answer. The Avatar Remained quiet too, and They Stayed Like That, in silence, one at the side of The Other, Until the Water Tribe barbarian (Sokka) meat and looking for historical friend, scolding him for 'fraternizing with the enemy', dragged him away.

-

"You should've gone Along with me, nephew!" Said Iroh the next morning. "It was amazing! Truly amazing! The views! The food! The way Those Girls Moved Their hips "!"

"Thank you, uncle, I do not want to know."

"Nephew, Sometimes you worry me. I—I think of how much I want to cradle little grandnephews in my arms and—and then, well, look at you! You're old enough to Be Interested in Women, But You Do not Seem To Be at all. Sometimes I wonder-events "CHTMLEningen with throwing it to the sea. "It is Against the rules," the captain said. "I Gave you a fair warning Before you came on board."

Zuko It Turned Out That Had Been Wrong about What he'd Thought about the Avatar's eyes, Because He Had Them WIDER now than before. "I'm sorry, really!"

"The rules Are the rules," the captain said. "No-one is going to break Them."

"Wait, please!" But It Seemed

Amount of begging That Would not make the captain change His Mind. I WAS going to throw the animal to the sea. Still, it Could Fly, Could it? At least enough to get back to the island, master STI Until Went for it on historical flying bison. Unless the captain

Threw it away Along with the cage,Which WAS Apparently the case.

Where was the Avatar's friend When I Needed Him? Probably Leading serving drinks and old ladies from here to There at The Other Side of the ship.

Therefore, it WAS the Avatar on His Own.

"No! Please! "Said the Post, Trying to slow down the captain by Means of clinging to historical leg.

On His Own, helpless, about to lose one of His beloved pets.

The Avatar-the kid-had now small tears on the corners of His eyes. "Wait! Do not! "Zuko

historical bit lip, rubbed His face, and sighed deeply.

... maybe You're Not That bad, you know?

Yes, maybe I wasn't.

"Excuse me, captain," Said Zuko stepping out from his hiding place. “But I must confess: that animal is mine.”

\n

Both the Avatar and the captain—who had undoubtedly recognized Zuko as his newest Pai-Sho friend's relative—stared at him.

\n

“Is it, really?” the captain asked.

\n “Yes. I gave it to the boy here to take care of it for a while. I did wrong; I apologize.” \n

The captain looked from Zuko to the Avatar a couple of times before changing his puzzled look into one of amusement. Next, he reached out the cage to Zuko. “Very well,” he said. “There you go, young master.”

\n

The animal hissed when Zuko grabbed it, making him feel thankful for the existence of handles.

\n

“It'd be better if you keep it in yOur cabin, "the captain said. "So the boy Will not Be distracted at work."

"I will," Zuko said. The captain

Walk Away, But Not Before whispering to the Avatar, "You're very lucky, boy."

The Avatar

Jump On His Feet and, this time, I did Zuko Give a hug. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! "

" Go away! "Said Zuko, Trying to remove him. The Avatar

look up at him, His Eyes Were shining and grateful. "Why did you do it?"

"I've seen What you can do when you're angry," Was all Zuko Answered Before The Avatar's friend's voice Scandalize Reached Them.

"Aang! What in the world are you doing? "

" Do not tell him or the truce
